On view February 8th-10th, 2012
Closing reception Friday, February 10th, 2012 5pm-8pm
Having looked around his flat, the bleak tugboat captain breathed a low
sigh and laid his cap upon the entry table. Having come back from another short
journey to the city limit’s outskirts, he slogged his way over toward the worn
daybed where he sat down and turned on the lamp. He looked upon the shadowed
yet brightly colored heads mounted upon the wall. Shifting his eyes to the
fireplace, he gave a mournful glare at the portrait of his beloved dead dog.
Without the help of good eyes or his lamp, he did his best when it came to
reading his favorite books, kept within reach from the daybed.
Little did the tugboat captain know
another captain was out on the rough oceans. The other captain navigated her
vessel over the seven seas, through towering waters as deep as the sky was
high. She spent months trying to find the ultimate beauty. Each country led to
a new understanding, but she remained unsatisfied. The vessel’s
instruments buzzed with the static from the monitors. She stared out her vessel’s
window, watching the waters collide, and dreamed of complacency.
