ANN ROTH

Opening reception Monday October 31, 2011 5pm-7pm
On view until November 4, 2011

Ann Roth will be exhibiting illustrations and drawings from her films and theater works.

Roth has been nominated for 4 Oscars, winning an Academy Award for “The English Patient.” She has designed costumes for over 90 films from “Midnight Cowboy” to “Cold Mountain” to “The Reader.” Equally at home in the theater, Roth has been nominated for the Tony Award 5 times, including a nomination for this year’s Broadway smash “The Book of Mormon,” from the creators of “South Park.”

Roth has an educational background in fine arts. She got her start painting sets for the Pittsburgh Opera House. Her costumes for director John Schlesinger on the film “Midnight Cowboy” (Best Picture 1969) was just the beginning of her repeat collaborations with distinguished directors, including Mike Nichols, for whom she has done over 10 films. She was most recently nominated for an Emmy for the costume design of “Mildred Pierce,” starring Kate Winslet. Her other forays into television include the lauded mini-series “Angles in America,” based on Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer-Prize winning play.
